From about 1 June (and when the beta program is full), we will deliver postharvest resource modules to participants on a monthly basis for the balance of the year. The content is designed to provide overviews of key areas of postharvest handling. Our intent is to share basic frameworks that will help local leaders make a difference in their own food systems. The beta modules will include information on:
•Postharvest systems
•Quality systems
•Managing temperature
•Managing maturity
•Managing ripening
•Reducing weight loss
•Preventing physical damage
•Preventing disorders
•Preventing diseases
During the beta, participation in the Postharvest Learning Program will be free.
Based upon the learnings we make through the beta program, we will develop a first global release of material later in 2014. Our intent is that the readily affordable commercial version of this program will, through learnings you have helped us to makel:
•Establish a new paradigm for postharvest learning
•Change lives, communities and ecosystems and
•Usefully contribute to the world population’s capacity to close the food gap currently predicted for 2050.
